The normative grammar Su Sardu Standard published in 2019 by the Alfa Editrice publishing house is a very important work for the first time in the history of the Sardinian language it gives clear indications and rules for the entire Sardinian language and puts the macro-varieties of Sardinian into a position of equality, without creating making distinctions, giving them the same dignity.
The idea of drawing up this grammar comes from the tireless work carried out from the 18th century to today by extemporaneous poets from the south and north of the island who, by performing on stage, have developed two wonderful literary norms that have made the history of poetry extemporaneous. The authors of this grammar come from various areas of the island and are all researchers and scholars who have obtained university courses and master's degrees in the Sardinian language, with experience in teaching Sardinian and with the use of Sardinian in public administration. The authors are presenting it in all the forums of Sardinia (the number of presentations, between municipalities and libraries, has reached thirty-five up to now). Acadèmia de su Sardu APS even presented it in 2023 at two international conferences: the XIX Conference of Minority Languages in Carmarthen in Wales (UK) and the XXXVIII Romanistentag in Leipzig in Germany in front of the international scientific community which greatly appreciated the proposal of standardization with two norms of the Sardinian language.
We can therefore say that Su Sardu Standard was the work we were all waiting for as it respects the entire historical journey that the Sardinian language has taken up to this moment, from the year 1000AD up to today. Since any standardization proposal should not differ too much from spoken Sardinian, it is a proposal that emerges from the people, open to improvements and above all democratic. The work is divided into three parts: the first concerns the spelling of Sardinian and proposes for the first time a single alphabet for writing all of Sardinian; the second part proposes the Campidanese norm of the Sardinian language; the third part proposes the Logudorese-Nuorese norm of the Sardinian language. Acadèmia de su Sardu APS aims to ensure that the book is adopted by all Sardinian-speaking municipalities and provinces and in the future will also propose it to the Autonomous Region of Sardinia.
